I think about Vermeer. His images were so peaceful, you’d never know that warfare and uncertainty defined his time.
Walking by Puget Sound, I also experience the power of peace against the backdrop of uncertain times.
What is the proper response to a dead seal on the beach? A young man builds a tomb marker with a piece of driftwood and a white feather. Then he offers a military salute.
I put faith in the idea that if I continue to do what I am called to do, my life will continue to fall into place: work will go on, expenses will be covered, children will be raised.
But what about chemical weapons in Syria, extraordinary levels of radiation from Fukushima and increased government surveillance?
Later in the morning, while I’m waiting for a school bus, Marvin Gaye sings about another war, …only love can conquer hate.
Let us at least begin by choosing to love where we have failed to love before and create peace in our own lives, where we have waged war.

Thank you Jesica, for your thought inspiring and awakening post. The picture of the fog tells me that each waking day we cannot see what lies ahead in our Life’s Journey, however , walking with Spiritual faith guided by Love shall lead us in the right direction.
The seal is a reminder that the end of this Journey is respectfully the beginning of another. However, to often our Journey is ended prematurely, before we have the opportunity to grow to our natural Spiritual potential as the “Life Source of Creation” intended. Using the Religious History of Mankind for example, has left an unprecedented wake of death and destruction to so many innocent and undeserving people. From it’s birth and continues through to this very day.
The Crow sitting on the barren branch, to some may seem as a pretty bleak picture, however, for me this has a very positive and deep meaning. This particular Bird sits alone, as they are normally seen in a group. To me, this represents that each person’s individual Spiritual Path is unique and very “Special” in it’s own way, which only you can travel. With Love being the foundation, the center of our Spiritual Being, it empathically connects us to others in a Loving, caring way. As we share from the Heart what we learn of our Spiritual selves with each other, in turn, we all grow to a higher level of Spiritual Awareness of all Natural Living Things.
I have found, once you connect with your Spiritual self and let it be your guide in all you think, say, feel, and do, you will grow Spiritually in a Natural way. “Your Light of Love will shine into the darkness of those who cannot see and they shall come to it”
Blessings…

Thank you so much for the beautiful reply. I wasn’t sure why i wrote this, or why I posted it. It wasn’t the usual and except for your comment, it felt like no one in the world but me had seen it. But it’s what was there to say on that particular day and I am once again so moved by your sensitivity and depth and connection with spirit and the natural world. Thank you for being a fellow traveler on our path and shining your light on what I do. Jesi
